High Interest Investment

Savings Accounts?

I need to have access to my money, since I am just a college student. I know they don't have higher returns. Anyways, I got around 4.3k in my savings account that is compounded daily and paid monthly. I earned .78 cents. I know savings accounts have piss poor returns, but is there a better deal or is interest rates for such investments that low.

  1. Investment i for those who got extra cash. 4.3k ? if there is an investment opportunity to give u 20-30% ROI will u consider. But dun forget it also carry high risk. Can u afford to lose? My advice is focus and get your qualification.Invest in your self is the best situation for you. You are priceless !
  2. i'd suggest taking a serious look at what you need to have on-hand and what you need to have accessible in say 3-5 days (that's usually how long it takes for the money to be transfered back to your other account if you need it)..because there are several online savings accounts that offere 5.05% like hsbcdirect.com or etrade.com. so you can put the portion that you do not need immediately in there to earn interest and leave a small portion in the low yield local account.
  3. Well, you stated that you need to have access to your money, so that means you'll withdraw money whenever you need money. Essentually, that only narrows your choice to an investment vehicle which will allow you continuous access to your account and funds. If you can do without half the funds for six months, invest in a six month CD from your local bank. You can do this every six months if you so choose. If you need access to all of the funds, then a savings account is really the best choice for your guidelines. So, the advice would be to choose the best (highest rate of return) savings account out there, right? Check out the website below... It has a high yield (4.5% annually) for a savings account, and is safe...
