Vanguard Prime Money Market vs. Bank of Internet Savings? Vanguard's site says the compound yield for their Prime MM is 0.26%. Bank of Internet is offering a savings account with an APY of 2.5% Is it possible to compare these two numbers or are they completely separate things? I'm just looking to get the most out of my savings wherever I put it. And isn't 0.26% kind of small?

custodial savings accounts? 7 years ago my mother passed away. a memorial fund was set up and the money was placed in a savings certificate. my aunt is the custodain in this account. i am now almost 20 years old and would like my money but my aunt told me she would not give it to me until she feels like it. i have not seen anything about this account since it was opened. i have all the info from when it was first opened. account number, opening balance, etc. i called the bank and although the woman verified that there was an account she could not tell me anything else bcuz it was a minor account i would have to have the custodain with me. i live in wisconsin and at one point found information on the internet about custodial accounts and that in wi once u were 18 the custodian is supose to turn the account over and sometimes they refuse and then u have to go to court. i wondered if anyone has ever been in this situation or if anyone can tell me what my rights are and what i can do to get my money
Does anyone have an account with Bank of Internet? I have my checking account with WaMu, and now that Chase took over they dropped their savings account interest rate from 4% to 1%. Bank of Internet currently has a 3.51% interest rate with no maintenance fees or minimum balance. Has anyone used them before? Are transfers to and from external accounts free? I'm just a little nervous about transferring a large sum of money to a bank I've never heard of, so I'm looking to see if anyone has had any experience with them. Thanks!
Are linked accounts required for ING Direct's savings account? I signed up for ING Direct's online savings account. I had to "link" my local checking account to the ING saving's account. National Savings - any good? Anything better? I have £70k to invest. It's in an internet savings account where it's getting 5%, but I'm a higher rate taxpayer so that's 3% after tax, barely keeping pace with inflation. I don't want to see a financial advisor as I'm worried I'll get sold whatever gives them the most commission or have to pay so much for the advice that it wipes out a couple of years worth of income! So I thought I'd try asking a bunch of unqualified strangers on the internet. Like asking your mates in the pub, only confidential (for a given value of confidential.) :) What do you guys think? National Savings have these bonds where you tie your money up for two years but it's guaranteed a return of inflation +1%, tax free. Is this worth doing? Is there anything better? Should I put it all in one place? I am investing for the medium/long term (I want to buy a house in 5-10 years time) but I don't want to risk the capital. I want a guaranteed return... but high enough that saving isn't losing me money Oh, I'm in the UK by the way. :) I always forget to mention that!
ING Savings accounts, are they worth it? I am thinking of opening up a savings account at ING for the interest rate. I am a little concerned about dealing with a bank that does not have a branch. ING is open to customers via phone or internet. Did anyone have a positive experience with ING Bank?
Online Savings accounts? Can anyone tell me whick bank or credit unions offer the best Online Savings account? I may be paranoid, but wiring money via internet to a newly opened savings account makes me anxious.Should it? BankRate.com reports that Zions Bank (www.zionsbank.com) has one of the highest yields. So I created an account online, mainly to do some exploring. Then the website asked me to enter my routing and account number of the checking account from which I want to transfer over $10,000 to this new savings account. That made me uneasy and I backed out of that step. I know it sounds a bit paranoid, but we're talking about a very, very large percentage of my assets and I want to be more assured that I'm not wiring my money to crooks. How can I verify that my money will be secure? Preferably from a third party resource.

How do I reinstall Internet Explorer without losing any existing files? My system shuts down to the home page whenever I hit the red X box (close). A bank has sent me 2 credit cards when I do not need any. How do I get rid of these ? A bank has sent me 2 credit cards when I do not need any. I have heard that the credit cards are ‘not activated’ when they arrive through mail. They get activated only upon usage. Is it true ? Can I simply destroy these credit cards without using them ? I have had a bad experience in getting the help-line agents to cancel the credit cards earlier, so do not want to call them this time. The Bank has already linked the credit cards to my savings account. I can see the credit cards when I check my savings account through internet. Will they debit the annual charges even if I do not use these cards ?

Can US resident open savings account in euro? $800 billion account deficit and growing, compounded with Iran's push for euro-traded oil casts certain shadow of suspicion on long term US dollar value. Is my college mailing address equivalent to a P.O. box? I want to sign up for an Internet Savings Account but currently live in college dorms. My family's home is about a two hours' drive away from me. For my address they say no P.O. boxes. Does this mean I can't use my college mailing address and need to use my home address? Does it count as a P.O. box or is it seen as a regular mailing address?

Any negatives associated with having several bank accounts open? There are tons of internet banks out there with nice interest rates, no fees, etc. I'd like to have a separate checking account to tie into paypal and other direct transfer accounts (INGdirect, emigrantdirect, etc); kind of like a junk email address I'd use to insulate my main account from being "out" there. Would having more than one checking/savings account open negatively affect my credit rating?
